Pepperoni Pizza Puffs

Ingredients

  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • spray oil or olive oil and a pastry brush as needed
  • ½ cup pizza sauce (spaghetti sauce works in a pinch!)
  • ¼ tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2-3 oz shredded mozzarella cheese   (freshly shredded  melts better than pre-shredded)
  • ¼ cup toppings (see list below)

Directions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 365° and spray a muffin tin with nonstick spray (or use a pastry brush to brush the cups lightly with oil.)
  2. Layer two wonton wrappers per cup, rotating the second wonton square so each cup looks like a star and covers the whole muffin cup.
  3. Bake for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove crisped wontons from oven and divide pizza sauce between 6 of the cups, spooning a little into the bottom of each wonton cup.
  5. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  6. Top each cup with grated mozzarella and pepperoni (or choice of toppings from the list below.)
  7. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the sauce is hot and the cheese is melty.
  8. Add any additional toppings or garnish as you please.
